St. George Children's Museum in UT

Two People are Charged with Animal Cruelty

St. George news, I read that two people have been officially charged with the
March shooting, which resulted in the deaths of four puppies and two adult
dogs. Based on the x-ray, the pellets scattered inside Vinnie after he was shot
with a buckshot shotgun shell. According to Anita Mortensen, a public
information specialist for the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, Julia Jessop,
38, identified as the owner of the dogs but turned over ownership of the six
dogs to a relative. The relative, 51-year-old George Russell Cooke of Colorado
City, was named as the person who shot the six dogs. One dog survived with
severe injuries. Cooke was charged with four counts of criminal misdemeanor
animal cruelty and two counts of felony animal cruelty. Mistreating animals,
leaving a dog unattended, and not having a dog license were all felonies
against Jessop. Vinny, the sole survivor, is currently in the total care of the
RSQ Shelter in St. George. His age is estimated to be four. According to the
